I met Julian Bernick in a bar in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Little did I know that one day we’d collaborate not just on this magazine, but also a couple of TTRPG projects. Julian and I (and Charlie) have been in a self-contained writers’ group for about a year now – all of us left the corporate grind and to focus on writing and creating. Julian’s style is a beautiful mix of Appendix N sword and sorcery with nice aftertaste of Vance. That sidelong humor, clever yarns, and stunning characterization is why I wanted him for this magazine. And I think you’ll agree that The Manse of Shivaum the Unperturbed might be your favorite story.
